Legend has it that Ferruccio Lamborghini, a wealthy Italian industrialist who made his fortunes building tractors and farm equipment, was once an avid Ferrari enthusiast and owner. Frustrated at the lack of service and correspondence regarding his Ferrari, he drove the car to the Ferrari factory and parked outside demanding to speak with Enzo Ferrari. The men argued as only Italians can, arms flailing, voices approaching operatic levels. Finally, Enzo threw down the gauntlet stating that the problems with Ferruccio’s Ferrari were due to his poor driving skills “What do you know about sports cars. This is not a tractor”. Furious, Ferruccio abandoned the Ferrari threatening Enzo “I’ll show you what a real sports car should be like”. And thus, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. was born.
Since inception in 1963, Lamborghini has built some of the most impressive high-performance sports cars. Innovators in mid-engine designs, Lamborghini first stunned the world with their unveiling of the Miura in 1966 and again with the shocking Countach in 1974. Suffice it to say, throughout their decades of advancement, Lamborghini has been a leader in supercar development, never resting on their robust past achievements, always moving into the next century offering the very best in high-performance sports cars.
Following on the use of the V10 platform in the Gallardo, The Huracan arrived in 2014 officially designated as the LP 610-4 named for the 610 hp output and electronically controlled 4-wheel drive configuration. The longitudinal mid-engine package allowed for optimal weight distribution and superb chassis balance. Capable of achieving a ¼ mile time of 10.4 seconds and an eye-watering top speed of 212 mph top speed via the 7-speed transmission, the Huracan delivered on all the promises of a top tier sports car. Handling was another important feature assisted by magnetically controlled suspension which automatically adjusted to immediate changes in road conditions and ride dynamics. These performance numbers, while amazing took another leap when the Huracan Evo was offered in 2019.
The updated Huracan Evo included enhancements to the already chiseled design language that gave the Huracan such a strong visual signature. Like the unforgettable Countach, the Huracan Evo delivered a menacing look with perfect stance and precision details. The engine was updated to 631 hp allowing for a 0-60 run of 2.9 seconds and unbelievable braking performance of 104 ft. from 62 - zero mph. Additionally, the rear wheels on the Evo were updated to include rear wheel steering to improve handling via a torque vectoring system. Sensors inside the car predicted the driving modes via integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which worked in harmony with the magnetorheological suspension. Sales were quite strong for the Evo yet production slowed during the supply chain challenges of this period, making this series rare and desirable.
This Huracan is a two-owner low mile example delivered new to O’Gara Coach Company, Beverly Hills, CA in December 2019. The beautiful gloss black alloy wheels are in excellent condition showing no curb marks or edge damage to the 20” wheels wearing Pirelli P Zero low profile performance tires. The emblems, logos, and design details are in superb condition. The angular crisp and crystalline surface body design echoes many of the great Lamborghini designs of the past while still conveying a futuristic profile of top performance. The mid-mounted V10 engine, low profile, and vivid color truly capture this uniquely optioned performance car.
The interior is uniquely finished in black leather with blue stitching which matches the exterior paint color. The interior stitching and seat color accents are subtle but memorable as they echo the chiseled design themes of the exterior. The leather seats, center console, and dashboard all feature the elegant and precise contrasting seat color stitching. Consistent with the 4,400 miles indicated, there are no visible signs of wear in any of the interior areas typically showing rub marks or seat bolster wear. Optional carbon fiber accents are beautifully preserved. Even the branded Huracan door sills are beautifully preserved. The black carpeting and alloy pedals are a nice nod to Lamborghini’s performance history, contrasted by sporty blue piping for the branded floor mats. The technologically sophisticated dashboard features digital information, flanked by a central console screen, an array of switches, and the distinctive Lamborghini premium sound system which is among the best in the supercar industry. The angular yet comfortable interior design is surprisingly easy to use, ergonomically well laid out, and offers much in the way of comfort amenities, all while capably achieving 200 mph.
Viewable through the clear view engine bonnet, the engine compartment and 631 hp V10 engine have been regularly serviced and detailed by previous and current owners. All factory engine markings and labels are in place and in excellent condition including the specific Lamborghini engine and drivetrain features all of which contribute to the astonishing performance that elevates these cars into competitive levels that rival million-dollar hypercars. The underside of the car is consistent in presentation, reflective of the miles indicated including the correct aerodynamic air management panels, contoured rear-end air diffusers, and factory suspension.
Behind the wheel of this Huracan the steering wheel, paddle shifters, and assorted switches are easily accessible and perfectly positioned for performance driving. The car starts with the press of a central locked console switch, lighting off the V10 engine, releasing a brilliant, tuned exhaust note. Driving position is comfortable and ergonomically agreeable even when driving in moderate traffic. When coaxed on open roads, the Huracan bursts to action like the fierce bull of its namesake, releasing howling engine revs as speeds climbs entering the highway at merely a third of its true capabilities. Brakes and suspension are highly capable and well balanced, being compliant in urban traffic conditions and quite nimble even on rougher roadways.
Since its debut in 2014, the Lamborghini Huracan has confirmed the dream of Ferruccio Lamborghini. His passion and talent reign today challenging the best in the world with a superlative sports car worthy of his legacy.
