1935 Ford American V8 Peking-Paris Rally car
This very well prepared 1935 Ford V8 Sedan is something of a rarity for us to say the least. It is now UK registered and was purchased by the current Australian owner in the USA in 2015 in order to be able to compete in the Vintage category of the 2016 Peking to Paris rally. At the time it was in very original but fully restored condition with absolutely no rust and is of very strong construction. The car was then shipped to Melbourne where it was entrusted to specialist preparers TCR Carponents who carried out a great deal of the preparation of the car for this gruelling event. During the process over $100,000 was spent to guarantee as much as possible, that the car would still be “On Song” by the time it reached Paris. No stone was left unturned, and the modifications have been so extensive, it is now mechanically far superior to when it left Ford America in 1935. The list of what has been done includes a full engine rebuild, the installation of a Tremac 5 speed gearbox, a new 9” differential with upgraded rear suspension with telescopic shock absorbers and the cable brakes were replaced to hydraulics all round. To aid creature comforts, it has air conditioning and rally seats with full harness seat belts and has had a half roll-cage fitted from a safety point of view. It also has an additional fuel tank giving a driving range in excess of 600 Km, and to aid navigation it also has a Terratrip rally computer. It has the benefit of a reticulated air compressor and electronic ignition. It will be supplied with full documentation including current FIVA certificate and is likely to be accepted for the 2025 P to P event which begins in Peking in May 2025. You could not build this car for our asking price of £48,500
